What do you think about when choosing a garage for your service?

What is most important for you when you’re booking in your car’s service? For many people working in or near Milton Keynes, it’s about finding a time that fits around office hours, school pick-ups or nursery drop-offs; BookMyGarage can help here by telling you which garages offer car collection and/or a loan car while yours is out of action. Hanging on the phone while you try to get on with the rest of your life is not ideal so the option to book online with a service such as BookMyGarage can prove invaluable. Of course, you also want a garage you can trust which is where the star ratings from other car owners in Milton Keynes come in, to help you make the right choice.

When should you get your car serviced?

Do you know how often you should get your car serviced and what type of service you need? There is no hard and fast rule - it depends on the model of car you have and its age. You should find this information in your car owner’s manual. If you’re not sure, enter your mileage on BookMyGarage and we’ll help you decide. As a general recommendation, you should be taking your car for a Full Service every 12 months (or 12,000 miles) and a Major Service every couple of years (or 24,000 miles). If you’re regularly travelling far beyond Milton Keynes for work or to visit relatives, or you have a car with known issues, it’s worth getting an Interim Service every 6 months (or 6,000 miles).

Driving in Milton Keynes

Designed originally to accommodate London overspill and housing congestion, Milton Keynes or ‘MK’ as it is locally known, has shed its concrete new town image and flowered into a creative and cultural hub with a thriving music, arts and literature scene.

Milton Keynes’ excellent shopping facilities keep footfall high at thecentre:mk which boasts over 300 shops and is one of the longest indoor shopping centre malls in Europe. The town has also become an extreme sports hotspot. You can water-ski, wakeboard and enjoy other water sports on Willen Lake, or head to Xscape for the UK's longest indoor real-snow ski and boarding slope, along with some superb indoor climbing facilities.

For more sedate pleasures, Milton Keynes Theatre offers one of the best theatres outside of London, and the Milton Keynes Gallery curates a programme of free exhibitions of international contemporary art as well as festivals and events. The Stables is Milton Keynes’ premier live-music venue offering a wide range of genres including jazz, blues, folk, rock, classical, pop and world music.

Milton Milton Keynes encompasses many pre-existing towns and villages, as well as new infill developments. The designated area outside the four main towns (Bletchley, Newport Pagnell, Stony Stratford, Wolverton) is largely rural farmland and includes many picturesque North Buckinghamshire villages and hamlets. Woburn Abbey and Safari Park (Britain’s largest drive-through safari park) are both only 8 miles drive away.

The city is served by the M1 which runs along the east flank of MK and links to the city from junctions 13, 14, and 15A. The A5 dual carriageway cuts right through MK and allows fast and easy access into the town. Other main roads are the A509 linking Milton Keynes with Wellingborough and Kettering, and the A421 and A422 take you west towards Buckingham and east towards Bedford.

The innovative road grid system in and around the town allows speedy movement between destinations. The higher speed limits are thanks to a hierarchical design which means roads run in between districts and not through them, and are separated from cycling and pedestrian thoroughfares.
