Good service honest work
"Another good experience from Ryan and the team. Clear honest info from them at all times."
"Car was fixed quick, and just came back from a longer trip without any issues. Prices are also very reasonable"
"All went very smoothly and to plan"
"Collected and dropped off car, kept informed of progress and cost. Only niggle was no card payments over phone but no issue in practice. Saved me money by advising how to resolve some issues myself."
"Fast and friendly"
"This garage provides an excellent service at good decent prices and most importantly, they are honest."
"Great service from the guys at Steins. Will definitely be using them again "
"I recently got an interim service and MOT for my car. I was happy with the charges for both and the simplicity of the online booking system. The garage have good flexible arrangements for dropping the car off the night before the service is due. Only slight negative and it wasn't a big issue for me as I was working till 5 o'clock was that I booked the car in using the online booking system for an AM appointment 2-3 weeks prior to the service date. I phoned the garage mid afternoon to ask for an update on my car and was told the MOT passed but it was waiting for a service. I was then told I would get a call when the service was done and the car could be collected. I did not get that call but assumed the car would be ready by 5pm and fortunately it was, although several cars had to be moved to get it out ready for me to drive away."
"Told within an hour what was needed and completed on the day"
"I've been using Stein's for a number of years now, as I trust them to give me high quality work at excellent prices. Craig and his team are knowledgeable, friendly and make sure that you're aware of everything that's happening."
Edinburgh deserves its reputation as one of the most striking and compelling cities in the world. It’s an ancient place steeped in history but is also a modern, dynamic capital. It hosts one of the most famous cultural festivals in the world, as well as cutting-edge art, captivating bars and great restaurants. It radiates an animated, chic ambience with a distinctly Scottish twist.
Edinburgh is a city of extraordinary contrasts: you can dine in Michelin starred restaurants or sample deep fried Mars Bars, switch from cocktails to pints, and traverse historic green spaces next to urban streets. These opposites are also reflected in the stunning architecture, from the ancient castle, medieval tenements and ‘wynds’ of the Old Town, to the genteel elegance of the Georgian New Town. It seems fitting that the city is the spiritual home of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, the fictional split-personality character dreamt up by writer Robert Louis Stevenson. In fact, Edinburgh’s literary and publishing heritage dates back centuries and it became the world’s first UNESCO City of Literature in 2005.
The centre of Edinburgh is fairly compact, so it’s wise to park in one of the numerous car parks and explore the romantic cobbled streets on foot. Climb any of Edinburgh’s ‘Seven Hills’ and the view towards the city with Edinburgh Castle at its heart is simply beautiful.
Drive out of the city and you’ll discover an endless supply of scenic countryside and fascinating places to explore throughout Lothian. Pale beaches on unspoilt nature reserves are on Edinburgh’s doorstep, and so are ancient castles, picturesque villages and some of the oldest and most spectacular golf courses in the world.
The Edinburgh City Bypass arcs around the south of the city, and links the A1 to the north-east of England, the A702 towards the north-west of England, and the M8 through the central belt towards Glasgow. If you do opt for motorway driving into the city or beyond into the north of the country, be prepared for slow moving traffic and delays – the M8 has one of the lowest average speeds in the country. It’s also good to know that there is only one service station (at Harthill) along its 60 mile stretch. Check out the many alternative A routes for a more scenic drive.
