"Both gentlemen that I dealt with were extremely nice and helpful, they explained everything that needed doing well (especially as I don't know anything about cars) and they kept me up to day with the progress of my car's MOT and Service. I'll be coming next year."
"Took my car for its annual MOT. All the guys there were very friendly and sociable. The MOT was completed quickly and even supplied coffee and biscuits whilst I waited in reception. The MOT cost was also very competitive and easy to book a time slot online."
Above average service!
"They updated me as to why it was losing water and oil and carried out work as agreed. The previous people who serviced this car ticked a lot of boxes and charged a lot but missed a few things! Not Aarons Autos, top job!"
"First class from start to finish, easy to book online, rang to confirm and kept informed throughout service and subsequent work."
"My car was well taken care of and Dave kept me informed of the repairs throughout the service. Great service and quality."

The clutch is perhaps the most important part of a car’s transmission system. It comprises two metal plates which are responsible for maintaining a connection between the engine and the gearbox. When the driver depresses the clutch pedal the plates come apart, separating the engine from the drive wheels, allowing you to change gear. Bringing the pedal back up re-engages the plates which in turn connect the engine to the drive wheels.
Excessive noise and vibration from the clutch area can be caused by a bad release bearing or pilot bearing. If this is the case in your car, the garage will take apart the clutch assembly in order to replace the bearings.
If the clutch is grabbing and shuddering as it’s engaged, the garage may need to take a look at the flywheel as well. Many modern vehicles are fitted with a dual mass flywheel; a rotating mechanical device which can break down. There’s no easy way for garages to check for this without disassembling the clutch and inspecting the pressure plate and flywheel. If the clutch pedal is giving little or no resistance, the problem could be a seal leak in the master or slave cylinder.
How to be a better driver
Whether you’re driving in Derby or further afield, think about road user etiquette. Showing respect for other road users makes driving more pleasant for you and safer for everyone. For example, if you have to make a last minute change of lane, make your request to change clear to the driver who will need to let you in - and signal your thanks if they do. Be ready to abandon the change of lane if they won’t play ball - your safety (and that of other drivers and pedestrians) is more important than getting to your destination in the shortest time possible. When the position is reversed and a driver asks your permission to change lanes, allow them to as long as it is safe. If you get frustrated, avoid using your horn - it won’t improve matters and might make them considerably worse.
