"The guys at Autonation we’re brilliant. They picked the car up and dropped it off. Their service was quick and effective. Thank you."
"I used this garage for the first time and everything was very easy from booking online to getting the car back. The service was very quick and I got already a message that I could collect the car when I just had arrived back home. I learned that they also offer to collect the car at your home when you live locally and that is what I will choose the next time as I have difficulties walking. Thank you so much for such a good first experience!"
"helpfull and nice staff"
Good but can be better
"Satisfied with service carried out. It makes positive difference in overall driving experience post service. However found bit expensive as had to struggle a bit over bargain and got the right price for aircon re-gassing or else would have paid double the amount for re-gassing compared to other garages in town. Would love to see used car list and details in the the showroom as could not get out of the show room due to rains whilst was waiting for the servicing of car."
"Brilliant from start to finish, Very helpful, great price, was done faster than expected and phoned me straight away. Couldn’t be more pleased"
"Professional MOT at fair prices."
"Incredibly quick, had the car back within two hours with a full detail on advisories and work done."
The brakes on your car utilise fluid pressure.
When the brake pedal is depressed, it activates a plunger in the master cylinder,
which pressurises the brake fluid in the pipes and hoses causing the brake components to move.
Brake repairs are one of the most common reasons to visit a garage; all cars need their brake discs and pads replaced at regular intervals. Some of the warning signs for brake failure are squealing or grinding noises when depressing the brakes, or the brake feeling 'spongy' when the pedals is pressed. And of course if you need to brake increasingly hard to effectively slow or stop your car, then you could well be looking at brake replacement.
There are two main types of brake systems: disc brakes and drum brakes.
Disc brake systems are comprised of two pads per wheel, which clamp down on the brake disc when the brake pedal is depressed. When the fluid becomes pressurised, it sends a plunger in the calliper forward, forcing the brake pads on either side of the brake disc to squeeze it, which results in the slowing and stopping of the car.
Drum brakes operate in the same way as disc brakes, but with a different design. They both use friction to slow and stop the car, but drum brakes use shoes, instead of pads. The shoes are inside the steel brake drum itself, which spins with the wheel. When brake pressure is applied, a component called the wheel cylinder expands, forcing the brake shoes apart and towards the inside edge of the drum. Drum brakes are usually found on older vehicles, or just on the rear brake system.
Driving in the East of England
The Fens, Norwich Cathedral, Sutton Hoo, not to mention the world renowned buildings and atmosphere of Cambridge University - the East of England is packed with great driving destinations. One of the warmer, drier and more sheltered regions of the UK, coastal areas in the summer do suffer from low cloud coming in from the North Sea which can affect driving conditions. However, the predominantly flat landscape makes for generally safe roads well suited to pleasurable motoring.
