"A stress-free day. My car was picked up early and returned at the end of the day. Invaluable when you are a single mum. I was kept informed all day and there were no problems. I can highly recommend."
"Explained everything when collected car and was carried out in a timely manner with the added bonus of being washed outside and foot wells hoovered!"
"I will recommend"
Great service, good price
"I booked a full service and MOT and this garage came back as the cheapest (by quite a long way). They carried both out over a few hours and gave me a call to update me on the progress. I booked in for a couple of small repairs the following week which was also a quick and straightforward process. I would definitely use this garage again."
"Booked a full service at a fixed price and was delighted with the work carried out and in particular the cost which was much cheaper than most of the other quotes i got.I decided to wait while the work was carried out and the waiting area was very comfortable with tv and free coffee machine.I was advised of a couple of jobs that need to be done in the near future but was not pressured in any way to return for the work to be carried out.My car keys were returned to me only after my car had been cleaned inside and out. Overall I could not fault this garage and I will certainly return in the future."
"Took my Toyota in for a service. Even prior to it, I got contacted by very friendly and professional reception staff and it only got better from there. Didn't need to get anything extra done at the time, but still got a thorough explanation of the service report and everything I'll need to keep an eye on."
"They are really quick and helpful. Open and fair with repairs."
"Very good garage, professional and helpful staff. For 100% coming back"

The brakes on your car utilise fluid pressure.
When the brake pedal is depressed, it activates a plunger in the master cylinder,
which pressurises the brake fluid in the pipes and hoses causing the brake components to move.
Brake repairs are one of the most common reasons to visit a garage; all cars need their brake discs and pads replaced at regular intervals. Some of the warning signs for brake failure are squealing or grinding noises when depressing the brakes, or the brake feeling 'spongy' when the pedals is pressed. And of course if you need to brake increasingly hard to effectively slow or stop your car, then you could well be looking at brake replacement.
There are two main types of brake systems: disc brakes and drum brakes.
Disc brake systems are comprised of two pads per wheel, which clamp down on the brake disc when the brake pedal is depressed. When the fluid becomes pressurised, it sends a plunger in the calliper forward, forcing the brake pads on either side of the brake disc to squeeze it, which results in the slowing and stopping of the car.
Drum brakes operate in the same way as disc brakes, but with a different design. They both use friction to slow and stop the car, but drum brakes use shoes, instead of pads. The shoes are inside the steel brake drum itself, which spins with the wheel. When brake pressure is applied, a component called the wheel cylinder expands, forcing the brake shoes apart and towards the inside edge of the drum. Drum brakes are usually found on older vehicles, or just on the rear brake system.
What do you need from your garage?
This might sound like a question with an obvious answer: you need a garage that can service or repair your car quickly and at a good price. But think again and you may realise there are other factors that affect your choice of garage in York. If you need to bring your son or daughter with you when you take your car in, are there toys in the waiting room? If you’re dropping the car off between school and work, can you pick up a cup of coffee while you’re there? Might the garage even collect your car and drop it back at your house after the work is done? You can find answers to all these questions on BookMyGarage.
