"Useful being able to book service online. Car was in the garage for only half a day. All work done as requested"
"Overall happy with the work done APART from the fact that by the time I got home my brakes no longer worked. Fortunately no one was hurt and in all fairness to the Service Manager, he arranged for my car to be taken back to the garage, re did the brake fluid change and returned the car to me. Can’t fault the level of customer service from Amy either."
"Everything done to good standard with a car to use whilst I waited so I could carry on with work (but could have done with my service book being signed). Would recommend."

"This company have MOT'd my car twice, passed on the first occasion and failed on the second. They were completely up front and explained on the second MO that the repairs were not really cost effective and as such I trust this company and will continue to use them for my future MOTs as well as recommend them to others."
"Very helpful , gave me a runaround , didnt have the car overly long , price was exactly as quoted -- am very impressed -- will definitely be returning for all my maintenance and repairs"

The brakes on your car utilise fluid pressure.
When the brake pedal is depressed, it activates a plunger in the master cylinder,
which pressurises the brake fluid in the pipes and hoses causing the brake components to move.
Brake repairs are one of the most common reasons to visit a garage; all cars need their brake discs and pads replaced at regular intervals. Some of the warning signs for brake failure are squealing or grinding noises when depressing the brakes, or the brake feeling 'spongy' when the pedals is pressed. And of course if you need to brake increasingly hard to effectively slow or stop your car, then you could well be looking at brake replacement.
There are two main types of brake systems: disc brakes and drum brakes.
Disc brake systems are comprised of two pads per wheel, which clamp down on the brake disc when the brake pedal is depressed. When the fluid becomes pressurised, it sends a plunger in the calliper forward, forcing the brake pads on either side of the brake disc to squeeze it, which results in the slowing and stopping of the car.
Drum brakes operate in the same way as disc brakes, but with a different design. They both use friction to slow and stop the car, but drum brakes use shoes, instead of pads. The shoes are inside the steel brake drum itself, which spins with the wheel. When brake pressure is applied, a component called the wheel cylinder expands, forcing the brake shoes apart and towards the inside edge of the drum. Drum brakes are usually found on older vehicles, or just on the rear brake system.
What do you need from your garage?
This might sound like a question with an obvious answer: you need a garage that can service or repair your car quickly and at a good price. But think again and you may realise there are other factors that affect your choice of garage in Lincoln. If you need to bring your son or daughter with you when you take your car in, are there toys in the waiting room? If you’re dropping the car off between school and work, can you pick up a cup of coffee while you’re there? Might the garage even collect your car and drop it back at your house after the work is done? You can find answers to all these questions on BookMyGarage.
