Simple and good service
"Mot done perfect, no problems, didn't hear back as stated but I called and the staff were very helpful. Side note - the review came through for "Andrew Tea" when it should be "Teal" for my last name."
"Excellent from the garage. My car went for a full service and I was greeted. by a happy, smiling face. The price and service was reconfirmed before I left and I was told I would be kept updated. As promised, I received a call around an hour later to tell me I needed new wipers on the front and brake fluid change is recommended (I already knew both these). The prices quoted were very reasonable and I was not out under pressure to have the additional work done. My car was ready for collection within 3 hours and I received an excellent service and will use them again."
"Good price compared to some others I had a quote from. Strange that I couldn't pay with credit card however, that was not anticipated,"
"Been going to Bsmart for 10 years. Trust reliable service. Family friendly and reliable. Thank you"
"Great professional service."
"I took my car in at agreed time and date in the morning and car the was ready within good time of when I needed it. The staff are pleasant and helpful. Only thing I would have liked was an itemised bill of the work carried out on the service instead of it just saying 'Full Service' and the cost. However trust all the things normally involved, which I'm not sure of, were all completed."
Service with a smile
"Professional, clean & tidy, honest communication - everything you want from a garage."
Great value as always
"Very honest garage. Great work. Great price. I use every time."
"It was very quick and the staff were friendly."
The brakes on your car utilise fluid pressure.
When the brake pedal is depressed, it activates a plunger in the master cylinder,
which pressurises the brake fluid in the pipes and hoses causing the brake components to move.
Brake repairs are one of the most common reasons to visit a garage; all cars need their brake discs and pads replaced at regular intervals. Some of the warning signs for brake failure are squealing or grinding noises when depressing the brakes, or the brake feeling 'spongy' when the pedals is pressed. And of course if you need to brake increasingly hard to effectively slow or stop your car, then you could well be looking at brake replacement.
There are two main types of brake systems: disc brakes and drum brakes.
Disc brake systems are comprised of two pads per wheel, which clamp down on the brake disc when the brake pedal is depressed. When the fluid becomes pressurised, it sends a plunger in the calliper forward, forcing the brake pads on either side of the brake disc to squeeze it, which results in the slowing and stopping of the car.
Drum brakes operate in the same way as disc brakes, but with a different design. They both use friction to slow and stop the car, but drum brakes use shoes, instead of pads. The shoes are inside the steel brake drum itself, which spins with the wheel. When brake pressure is applied, a component called the wheel cylinder expands, forcing the brake shoes apart and towards the inside edge of the drum. Drum brakes are usually found on older vehicles, or just on the rear brake system.
