Upcoming EVs for 2024

A few of the models expected to arrive in the UK in 2024.

As 2024 quickly approaches, so do some new, exciting electric car models. Here is just a few of the models coming to the UK electric market in 2024.

Ford Explorer

Expected: Summer

The Ford Explorer was originally supposed to hit UK roads in autumn 2023, but an incoming UN regulation regarding the standardisation of battery safety regulations had put the sales on hold until summer 2024.

The entry level mid-size SUV will have a range of 220 miles, but if you choose the mid-range, you’ll get 335 miles from your Explorer. The car will come with a heated steering wheel and massaging seats as standard, as well as a 15-inch infotainment system and keyless entry.

While an exact price hasn’t been announced yet, experts predict it will cost at least £40,000, and has two battery options – 52kWh or 77kWh.

Dacia Spring

Expected: Spring

Dacia have labelled their EV as ‘the most affordable new electric car in Europe’, although no official price has been revealed. The car is set to have a tiny 26.8kWh battery, fetching a modest 137-mile range, to suit inner city drivers.

It is already a hit across the pond in Europe, where over 120,000 orders have been placed since its introduction in 2021. The Dacia Spring will have 14-inch wheel covers, air con, and a basic sound system, but the option to add an infotainment screen will be available, along with alloy wheels, rear parking sensors, and a review camera.

The Dacia Spring is expected to bring a whole new level of affordability to the UK EV industry, so bargain hunters, keep an eye out.

Cupra Tavascan

Expected: 2024

The Tavascan is the Cupra’s first SUV coupe, boasting a range of 339 miles and the ability to charge from 0-62 miles in just 7 minutes.

The EV will be fitted with a 15” navigation system, where you can access online maps, music, entertainment, and control it with your voice. Adaptive Cruise Control and Assisted Lane Changing keeps you safe on the road by monitoring your surroundings and prevents you from changing lanes if it is dangerous.

We don’t have an exact timeframe of when the Tavascan will be hitting UK dealerships, but you’ll know when you pass it on the road – the logos are illuminated on both the front and rear of the vehicle, giving the car a smooth, sportive look.

Polestar 4

Expected: Early 2024

The Polestar 4 is set to be the fastest Polestar production to date, with a maximum power output of 400kW – or 544hp. It can complete 0-62 in just 3.8 seconds, and has a 102kWh battery, to deliver 350 miles of range.

The model combines the aerodynamics of a coupe and the space of an SUV to create the optimum EV, and is fitted with a full-length glass roof, with the option to have electrochromic functionality, so the driver can choose opacity or transparency.

The tailored knit upholstery is 100% recycled PET and uses animal-welfare secured leather. The car is made to fit, so no offcuts are produced during production, proving Polestar is dedicated to sustainability.

MG Cyberster

Expected: August 2024

The MG Cyberster is an all-electric convertible sportscar, with the classic stylings similar to the retro MG models of the 70s and 80s – the scissor doors and sloping bonnet scream style and sophistication.

It is set to have a 77kWh battery, fetching 323 miles of range, and apparently capable of reaching 62mph from 0 in under three seconds. The top speed is yet to be confirmed, but we’re sure it’ll be speedy.

The car is fit with a 360-degree camera and LED lighting. The interior is reminiscent of a gamer’s driving game set up, with four digital interfaces; three-piece screen which displays all the information, infotainment controls and driver assistance technology.

BMW iX2

Expected: March 2024

BMW already offer the iX2 as a petrol car, so the all-electric version is highly anticipated. Keeping the sporty style and SUV-couple silhouette, the iX2 comes in a wide range of colour and upholstery options to leave a personal mark on your perfect EV.

The iX2 has a top speed of 112mph and can reach 62mph in 5.2 seconds. The infotainment system is fit with fully integrated video streaming for those well-deserved breaks on long journeys, and even the option to include the AirConsole Games feature which turns your BMW into a games console using your smartphone. Both features require the Digital Premium upgrade.

The car is complete with 20” light alloy wheels and LED technology, which as well as your headlights, you can add to the kidney grill to add an ‘iconic glow’.

Smart #3

Expected: Early 2024

The Smart #3 is ‘all about action’, with athletic curves to improve aerodynamics and reduce drag, which is said to help improve range. The #3 will have a maximum range of 283 miles, and less than 30-minute charging time.

The car’s panoramic roof effectively blocks heat and 99% of UV radiation, so you can soak up those rays on sunny days here in the UK. You can personalise you #3 with ‘endless’ ambient lighting options, and choose from four unique lines, all with different specifications.

There is no price point as of yet – so watch this space.
