At BookMyGarage, we’ve analysed full car service prices for the UK’s most popular makes and models to find out how much service costs can vary depending on which garage you choose.

Using booking and pricing data, our study shows that drivers can be shown very different prices for a full service depending on the garage they choose, with differences sometimes running into the hundreds of pounds, underlining the importance of comparing prices before booking to maximise value.

  • The car model with the largest price range for the same full service was £441, with Audi Q7 prices ranging from £129 to £570.
  • By manufacturer, Land Rover models showed the widest service price ranges, followed by Mercedes-Benz, Abarth, BMW and Audi.
  • Overpaying is not limited to premium cars. A Vauxhall Corsa ranged from £60 to £424, and a Vauxhall Mokka from £64 to £430.
  • Overall, the average cheapest full service was around £109, compared with nearly £300 for the most expensive, a difference of almost £190, for the exact same service schedule.

Some drivers are paying £570 for a car service that costs others just £129

We found that the car model with the biggest price variation for a full service was an Audi Q7, where full car service prices ranged from £128.93 at the cheapest end to £570 at the most expensive.

That means some drivers could be paying more than four times as much for the same scheduled service, despite the work required being typically identical.

Premium Brands See the Widest Spread in Overall Price

When we grouped that data by manufacturer rather than individual models, Land Rover showed the widest overall spread in full service prices, with an average range of £270.54. They are followed by Mercedes-Benz, then Abarth, BMW and Audi.

However, when analysing model level findings, we found large price differences are not limited to premium vehicles. Popular, mainstream cars also appeared in the top five for price variation. A full service for a Vauxhall Corsa ranged from £60 to £424, while a Vauxhall Mokka ranged from £64 to £430, depending on the garage.

Brands with Smaller Service Price Gaps

At the other end of the scale, vehicles from some manufacturers showed far more consistent service pricing across garages. INFINITI had the tightest price difference at just over £50, with Cupra and Alfa Romeo also showing differences of under £90.

Save Up to £190 on a Full Service by Shopping Around

Across all models analysed, the average cheapest full service was around £109, compared with close to £300 for the most expensive. On average, that is a difference of almost £190, showing how much you could save simply by comparing prices before booking.

Why the Same Car Service Can Cost More for Some Drivers

So, what does it all mean? Our Chief Marketing Officer, Jessica Potts, explains:

“Servicing prices can vary between garages, even for the same car and the same service, because every garage sets its own pricing based on their own costs and business model. Factors such as local labour rates, the experience level of their technicians, types of parts used, and overheads can all play a role.

What this data highlights is how widely prices can vary and why for the same service on the same car, reinforcing the importance of being able to compare like for like. As garages often describe their main service differently and include different checks, it can be difficult for drivers to judge value.

However, while these figures highlight just how widely prices can vary, that doesn’t mean drivers should automatically choose the cheapest option

Some garages invest heavily in the latest diagnostic tools, software subscriptions, and ongoing staff training, or choose to use OEM parts. Others may have higher fixed costs such as premium locations, dedicated front of house staff, and more advanced booking and admin systems - all of which can contribute to a higher value service.

In fact, analysis of our platform shows that most drivers prioritise proximity and convenience over cost, demonstrating that the ‘best value’ isn’t always the lowest price - it’s the garage that best fits their needs, whether that relates to convenience, reviews, availability or price.”

Car servicing doesn’t have to be confusing. At BookMyGarage, you can find everything from a full-service to an electric car service or a van service, all with clear pricing, so you know exactly what you’re paying for. Simply compare your options, book your preferred date and time, and pay when the work is complete - it’s that easy.

Methodology

We analysed full service prices for some of the UK’s most popular makes and models using real booking and pricing data from garages listed on our platform.

The analysis covers all of 2024 and 2025, as well as January 2026 to date. To ensure the results are representative, the study focused on commonly booked make and model combinations, excluding low volume outliers. The study focuses exclusively on full service costs for petrol, diesel & hybrid vehicles.
