We all love having a clean car – and a fresh smattering of bird poop can really get your day off to a bad start.

The quicker you get bird droppings off your car, the better.

Follow the tips in our blog to get your car looking stain-free in no time.

How to Remove Wet Bird Poop from Your Car

What you use to remove bird poop on your car can vary depending on how fresh the bird droppings are.

If the poop is relatively recent, lukewarm water should be sufficient to get rid of the marks.

Using a soft microfibre cloth, wipe most of the mess away.

Then, use a car shampoo and sponge to clean the area before rinsing with warm water.

You may wish to add a protective car wax as a final step in the process.

You should avoid using implements to remove the droppings which could scratch and damage your paintwork.

How to Remove Dried Bird Poop from Your Car

If the poop has fully dried in, soak a microfibre cloth in water or a vehicle-safe cleaning product and leave on the area for 15 minutes before wiping off.

Repeat as many times as necessary to get rid of the stain.

Clean the area with a car shampoo and sponge and then give it a good rinse – adding car wax if you wish.

You can even buy wipes specifically designed for cleaning bird poop off your car.

Not only are the tools you use important, but your technique matters, too.

You should dab at the stain and try to ‘lift’ it off with a clean section of your cloth.

Scrubbing too aggressively could scratch or chip your car’s paintwork, so be gentle.

Why Is Bird Poop Bad for Your Car?

As bird poop has a pH between 3 and 5, it can damage your car’s exterior if you leave it on for too long.

Bird droppings can burn through the layers of paint on your car - it can even bleach them!

That’s why it’s so important that you clean bird droppings off your car as soon as you notice them.
