"Great service! Lovely people. I waited while my car was being worked on. They cleaned my car after (it was needed!). Thank you."
"Generally good service and work is always carried out to a very high standard. Added bonus was able to book online."
"The staff was very welcoming and friendly, the mechanics done a great job on keeping me updated"
A great experience
"Upon booking through the site I received a text from the garage within an hour and arranged a time to head down. The staff member at the desk was friendly and quick, the MOT was completed quickly. And even though I needed work they supplied an alternative car for me while mine was being worked on."
Overall great service
Great customer service
"Very easy to book and the staff were very helpful with an estimate on the time the work would take. The quality of the work was good and the car was handed back in immaculate condition."
Cheap and friendly
"I was happy with my MOT for £39. + they were ready and waiting for me when I arrived for my appointment + paperwork was handed to me in a nice plastic sleeve - the MOT took 1.5 hours instead of 45 mins - they had temporarily lost my car keys when I came to collect the car. That was stressful, and I had to come back later after they’d found them"
"Quick. Helpful. Reasonable cost."
Happy with service
"It's great that they offer a free service of collecting and dropping off the car. Really helped me as I have a young child and helps not to have to worry how to get back once the car has been dropped off. So far the car is running ok after the MOT and service. Will use them again."
Wheels and tyres, as with any rotating object, need to be balanced in order to reduce vibration. A good example of this is when laundry is loaded into a washing machine unevenly, the drum is not correctly balanced, so vibrates. Similarly, wheel balancing ensures that the weight of the wheel and tyre is even around the axle.
You should always have your wheels balanced whenever you have new tyres fitted. Car tyres which are fitted on wheels that have not been properly balanced will wear very quickly and unevenly. This is due to the inconsistent points of friction between the tyre and the road, creating an effect like rubbing sandpaper on the tyre aggressively. Losing grip this way could be very dangerous and the vibration also makes the car’s ride very uncomfortable, possibly to a point of distraction that might lead to an accident.
Wheels are typically removed from a car before their balance is checked. They are placed in a specially-designed machine and spun to measure the vibration. Small offsetting weights are placed at points on the rim of the wheel based on results from the balancing machine. This is repeated until the machine reports that the wheel is balanced.
How can you save money (and the environment) while you drive?
As every garage owner will tell you, there are some tried and tested ways to cut down on your petrol costs (and consumption) while you’re out and about in Watford or beyond. One is to shut your windows. If you can hear that wind noise in your car it’s costing you more to drive. This is because the car becomes less aerodynamic and has to work harder to motor along. Removing a roof rack will improve your fuel efficiency for the same reason. Another useful tip is to combine short trips into one; each time you drive after your car has been parked for a while the engine will be cold and need to use a lot more fuel for the first 5 miles or so. If you do one trip from school drop-off to supermarket to office you’ll use far less fuel than if you do all those trips individually.
