"Great job and very helpful staff very friendly highly recommend like"
"Pick car up from home had it serviced and brought back. Good value for money"
"Initial communication to book car in was confusing. Once booked in it was collected and delivered with work completed in reasonable time. Invoice slightly vague as with a major service there's a lot of work carried out and not all of it was mentioned so not sure if done."
"Job was done quickly and I was back on the road in time stated"
"Fab, quick service. Been coming here for over 6 years now and nothing is ever a problem for these guys. Even had a few telephone conversations regarding possible car issues and they have always got back to me fairly quickly."
"Good service and good value"
MOT not complete
"MOT started sometime mid afternoon but was immediately halted due to discovered damaged on multiple tyre rims. These are being rectified before MOT and Service can be done."
"Kept informed and friendly staff"
Wheels and tyres, as with any rotating object, need to be balanced in order to reduce vibration. A good example of this is when laundry is loaded into a washing machine unevenly, the drum is not correctly balanced, so vibrates. Similarly, wheel balancing ensures that the weight of the wheel and tyre is even around the axle.
You should always have your wheels balanced whenever you have new tyres fitted. Car tyres which are fitted on wheels that have not been properly balanced will wear very quickly and unevenly. This is due to the inconsistent points of friction between the tyre and the road, creating an effect like rubbing sandpaper on the tyre aggressively. Losing grip this way could be very dangerous and the vibration also makes the car’s ride very uncomfortable, possibly to a point of distraction that might lead to an accident.
Wheels are typically removed from a car before their balance is checked. They are placed in a specially-designed machine and spun to measure the vibration. Small offsetting weights are placed at points on the rim of the wheel based on results from the balancing machine. This is repeated until the machine reports that the wheel is balanced.
How can you save money (and the environment) while you drive?
As every garage owner will tell you, there are some tried and tested ways to cut down on your petrol costs (and consumption) while you’re out and about in Morecambe or beyond. One is to shut your windows. If you can hear that wind noise in your car it’s costing you more to drive. This is because the car becomes less aerodynamic and has to work harder to motor along. Removing a roof rack will improve your fuel efficiency for the same reason. Another useful tip is to combine short trips into one; each time you drive after your car has been parked for a while the engine will be cold and need to use a lot more fuel for the first 5 miles or so. If you do one trip from school drop-off to supermarket to office you’ll use far less fuel than if you do all those trips individually.
