"I had a great experience with Topgear, they picked up and dropped off my car and kept me informed about what needed to be done and when my car would be delivered back."
"Happy with the service"
"Booked in for a full service and MOT, I knew there were a few issues that needed addressing on top of this. The garage noticed all of these, called me and kept me updated on everything. They didn’t try to push any other services on me but elected to have the few extra bits of repair done. The car drives smoother and feels more solid and they completed the work quickly. Staff were very professional and polite. No negatives at all."
Very helpful and friendly
"I was very happy with the service they even called my car Norman which is what I had named it and put me right at ease with it being the first time I've had a Lot."
Honest efficient quality
"Very quick and well communicated"
Will be returning
"This is my first time having to deal with a garage as it’s my first car. I was a little worried on what to do or say but when I got there, all worry’s went away. They made me feel very comfortable, spoke to me with respect (unlike a lot of stories about garages I’ve heard) and most importantly they got the job done properly. My car came back in a much better condition than before. I will definitely be returning for any issues with my car in the future"
Amazing service *****
"Kept me informed throughout, offered me sound advice."
"Quickly completed the Service, MOT and work. The price was fair and they they kept me in the loop throughout, would recommend and go there again!"
"All nice and smooth, had a few work done. Happy with it"
"I booked online, within in an hour i received a phone call from David. He was very helpful as this was first time taking the car to the garage. I picked this garage based on the reviews, I was not disappointed. My only concern was that the garage is located on a fairly busy street and to leave your car there, you have to either park on said street or round the corner."
Any rotating object has to be balanced in order to reduce vibration and optimise its performance. We're all familiar with the vibration caused by an unevenly loaded washing machine drum; that's what your car tyres have to endure if the wheels have not been properly balanced. As a tyre wears, its balance may change slightly. And when you have new car tyres fitted, you will definitely need to have your wheels balanced.
If your car has a wheel that is out of balance, you will probably notice it most at speed. Often you will find there is a particular speed where this is most noticeable, and you’ll feel it through your steering wheel.
Your garage will usually take the wheel off the car to check its balance. They put the wheel in a machine that spins the it, and measures the vibration. The mechanic adds small weights to the rim of the wheel - the balancing machine tells him where to attach them - and the mechanic repeats the test until the wheel is satisfactorily balanced.
How to be a better driver
Whether you’re driving in Derby or further afield, think about road user etiquette. Showing respect for other road users makes driving more pleasant for you and safer for everyone. For example, if you have to make a last minute change of lane, make your request to change clear to the driver who will need to let you in - and signal your thanks if they do. Be ready to abandon the change of lane if they won’t play ball - your safety (and that of other drivers and pedestrians) is more important than getting to your destination in the shortest time possible. When the position is reversed and a driver asks your permission to change lanes, allow them to as long as it is safe. If you get frustrated, avoid using your horn - it won’t improve matters and might make them considerably worse.
