"Realised my mot had run out, called and explained, fitted me in, got the job done, really polite and helpful. Will be using again for my service."
"Second time that I have used this garage. Excellent customer service and work done on the car. This will definitely be my regular garage from now on. Very pleased."
"Only originally booked in for MOT and service but had other problems with car that I wanted sorting. Other garages had asked me to pay £50 just to see what was wrong with my car but these didn’t. They knew what they could do to fix and told me how much...already booked In to get the work done, Friendly staff :)"
"Excellent service, contacted me beforehand to advise of work requiring attention. Repaired a puncture rather than advising the need of a new tyre which I thought I needed"
Needs time improvement
"Very helpful staff, really nice and smile at You! Timing can be improved was told my appointment for MOT was 8:30 and I didn’t get my car back until 2PM"
Friendly local garage.
"Having moved to the area recently, this was the first time I needed any work on the car, so I used Book My Garage to find somewhere local for my MOT. The work was done at the appointed time and for the expected price and I got the impression that they were well equipped for the job. I will certainly be considering using this garage when my next service is due, instead of a main dealer."
"Work was carried out to a good standard, garage kept me informed as to work that needed doing, though there pricing was way over the top."
"I am very happy with the service I received. I booked my car in as it was making an ‘odd noise’ and the engineers told me to leave it and they would get back to me. A little while later they rang me and told me exactly what the problem was, what the price was to fix it and how long it would take. I told them to carry on with it and a few hours later they had the parts and had fixed the issue for me. Brilliant team!!"
Wheels and tyres, as with any rotating object, need to be balanced in order to reduce vibration. A good example of this is when laundry is loaded into a washing machine unevenly, the drum is not correctly balanced, so vibrates. Similarly, wheel balancing ensures that the weight of the wheel and tyre is even around the axle.
You should always have your wheels balanced whenever you have new tyres fitted. Car tyres which are fitted on wheels that have not been properly balanced will wear very quickly and unevenly. This is due to the inconsistent points of friction between the tyre and the road, creating an effect like rubbing sandpaper on the tyre aggressively. Losing grip this way could be very dangerous and the vibration also makes the car’s ride very uncomfortable, possibly to a point of distraction that might lead to an accident.
Wheels are typically removed from a car before their balance is checked. They are placed in a specially-designed machine and spun to measure the vibration. Small offsetting weights are placed at points on the rim of the wheel based on results from the balancing machine. This is repeated until the machine reports that the wheel is balanced.
Another French company churning out good-looking vehicles, Renault has been in the business of making cars since 1899. The alliance of Renault with Nissan (conveniently called the Renault-Nissan Alliance) make up the fourth largest automotive group in the world.
Renault is also widely known for its role in motor sport, particularly Formula 1. Early work on mathematical curve modelling used on Renault car bodies is an important, but little known, part of the history of computer graphics. Renault began to take part in motorsport early in the 20th century, largely due to Marcel Renault’s own interest in the sport. Over the years, Renault acquired multiple companies with sporting connections, and in the 1970s set up its own dedicated motorsport division, Renault Sport, winning both the Le Mans 24 Hours race and the Renault Alpine A442.
But back to the world outside of motor sport! Back in 2013, the newest Renault vehicles had the lowest average CO2 emissions among European generalist brands, average at 110.1g/km.
How can you save money (and the environment) while you drive?
As every garage owner will tell you, there are some tried and tested ways to cut down on your petrol costs (and consumption) while you’re out and about in Brent or beyond. One is to shut your windows. If you can hear that wind noise in your car it’s costing you more to drive. This is because the car becomes less aerodynamic and has to work harder to motor along. Removing a roof rack will improve your fuel efficiency for the same reason. Another useful tip is to combine short trips into one; each time you drive after your car has been parked for a while the engine will be cold and need to use a lot more fuel for the first 5 miles or so. If you do one trip from school drop-off to supermarket to office you’ll use far less fuel than if you do all those trips individually.
