"First time I've used Merxworx as the car is new, so was its first service.,I couldn't fault the staff, I made an online enquiry and was called back straight away to book it in. I was kept up to date with progress and the car wad even finished ahead of schedule. The lady on reception was helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. Would definitely visit again."
Can not fault them
"Took my car for its mot. Even though i arrived late, they stayed and did it for me. Also arranged for them to have a look deeper into an engine problem a few days later, which they did and diagnosed it. Booked in for the repairs a few days later. Repairs were completed and when picking the car up they told me the price was less than the original quote, which was a pleasant surprise. Car is now running nice and smoothly. Be booking in for a service very soon. Cheers guys"
A car radiator disperses heat away from the main engine block. A car engine works by burning fuel (whether petrol or diesel), and this generates a considerable amount of heat. In addition, a car engine has many moving parts; this movement creates friction, which in turn adds to the heat.
Because a car engine must remain not too hot in order to avoid overheating and seizure, when it reaches a certain temperature the thermostat opens to allow the flow of coolant and water around the engine and back to the radiator, where it loses heat to the cooler surrounding air. The front grill of the car allows outside air to blow over the radiator. If the radiator gets too hot, for example on a very hot day, or when the car is stationary, a fan behind the radiator starts, helping to blow air over it.
The most common reason for needing a car radiator repair is a leak. There are many seals, gaskets and hoses in the cooling system that can deteriorate or get a hole in them. Furthermore, every radiator needs to be properly maintained and the coolant must be kept topped up. Your garage should provide coolant changes at the same time as your annual service.
It’s also a good idea to check your car’s coolant level regularly. If it seems to be dropping a lot, then you may have a leak in the cooling system.
What do you need from your garage?
This might sound like a question with an obvious answer: you need a garage that can service or repair your car quickly and at a good price. But think again and you may realise there are other factors that affect your choice of garage in Hull. If you need to bring your son or daughter with you when you take your car in, are there toys in the waiting room? If you’re dropping the car off between school and work, can you pick up a cup of coffee while you’re there? Might the garage even collect your car and drop it back at your house after the work is done? You can find answers to all these questions on BookMyGarage.
