"Ran to time, helpful, did what they said they would do"
Superb & trustworthy
"I have been taking cars to this garage for many years (and first used it 34 years ago when it was in a different location). The quality of customer service and workmanship is excellent and now my family has 4 cars going (including one bought from there) for maintenance there so we rate this garage very highly for everything from small jobs like air on recharges or oil changes right up to full services or major repairs like clutches. Lancaster is lucky to have DC Wilsons!"
Friendly & helpful staff
"I originally booked my service & MOT online but then I received a call from the garage who informed me that the MOT slot wasnt available and gave me a new slot. The service was completed in good time but unfortunately it failed the MOT. I quickly had the work done and returned to the garage the following day and they did another MOT straight away so i was back on the road. All staff are very friendly, polite and helpful. I would definitely recommend this garage!"
It was easy Peeps!!!
"Booked and paid online, call back from Garage day before to confirm, job done on time collected - Great"
Short notice MOT
"Spot on! More than happy with the service; booked in for MOT online, got a call back to confirm booking a couple of days later. MOT completed in around an hour while I waited. No unnecessary work carried out. Just a great value, professional service all around."
A car radiator disperses heat away from the main engine block. A car engine works by burning fuel (whether petrol or diesel), and this generates a considerable amount of heat. In addition, a car engine has many moving parts; this movement creates friction, which in turn adds to the heat.
Because a car engine must remain not too hot in order to avoid overheating and seizure, when it reaches a certain temperature the thermostat opens to allow the flow of coolant and water around the engine and back to the radiator, where it loses heat to the cooler surrounding air. The front grill of the car allows outside air to blow over the radiator. If the radiator gets too hot, for example on a very hot day, or when the car is stationary, a fan behind the radiator starts, helping to blow air over it.
The most common reason for needing a car radiator repair is a leak. There are many seals, gaskets and hoses in the cooling system that can deteriorate or get a hole in them. Furthermore, every radiator needs to be properly maintained and the coolant must be kept topped up. Your garage should provide coolant changes at the same time as your annual service.
It’s also a good idea to check your car’s coolant level regularly. If it seems to be dropping a lot, then you may have a leak in the cooling system.
Founded in Hiroshima, Japan in 1920, Mazda started out as a manufacturer of machine tools and didn’t move into the automotive business until 1931, when they produced their first “autorickshaw”. They’ve come a long way since then! The name has an interesting backstory too - the company says that it is derived from Ahura Mazda, the ancient Persian god of light, intelligence, and wisdom.
But beyond all that, Mazda is a maker of affordable, economical cars that are fun to drive and don’t break the bank. They also have a few sports cars on offer, for those who want something with a bit more pizzazz. That coupled with their saloons, SUVs, and hatchbacks means that everyone should be able to find something to fit in their garage.
How can you save money (and the environment) while you drive?
As every garage owner will tell you, there are some tried and tested ways to cut down on your petrol costs (and consumption) while you’re out and about in Brent or beyond. One is to shut your windows. If you can hear that wind noise in your car it’s costing you more to drive. This is because the car becomes less aerodynamic and has to work harder to motor along. Removing a roof rack will improve your fuel efficiency for the same reason. Another useful tip is to combine short trips into one; each time you drive after your car has been parked for a while the engine will be cold and need to use a lot more fuel for the first 5 miles or so. If you do one trip from school drop-off to supermarket to office you’ll use far less fuel than if you do all those trips individually.
