Great service yet again
"The MOt process was made seamless by this garage. I was kept informed during the test and was given a fair price for the items that needed repairing. All in all I am a happy customer and I will return again. Very fare and reasonable prices"
"Friendly staff and great services available"
"Good communication from the garage and work carried out quickly."
"Very efficient and friendly garage, highly recommended"
"I ended up emailing them to check I was booked in, as I didn’t get a phone call to confirm the booking as promised. That said, we’ve used the garage before and would certainly use them again in the future. Customer service generally is great, and the work completed to a high standard. They even washed my car and I only had an oil change service."
Couldn't be happier
"Service completed, and the video health check is a brilliant touch which allows you to see the issues raised and even get a second opinion to ensure clarity of information. Service is not only good, it helps you to gain trust for those working on your vehicle - particularly as I am no mechanic myself. Will recommend and use them for my MOT early next year."
"Was very happy with the segment car I received, staff were very helpful and informative. Unlike many garages I have used, I did not feel I was being ripped off"
"The service was good and effeciant. I was given advice about my car and it was a superb work. Would use and recommend. Fair price as well"
"I cannot fault this garage. The service was professional, efficient and friendly. I will definitely be recommending them to my friends and family."
Power Assisted Steering, or ‘PAS’ as it is also known, is a mechanism that helps you to steer your car. In most vehicles, the PAS relies on a hydraulic system to aid turning the vehicle's wheels. If you have ever driven a car with no Power Steering you will have most certainly noticed the difference between having PAS and not. Power Steering used to be a luxury in certain vehicles, but nowadays it is almost standard in every type of vehicle.
There are two types of power steering: rack-and-pinion and the recirculating ball. Rack-and-pinion is the most common system. Although not as widespread, the recirculating ball system is still in use, mainly on vans and trucks.
In both systems, two high-pressure hoses connect the steering rack to both sides of the centre seal. One hose directs high pressure hydraulic fluid from the power steering pump to the steering mechanism, while the other allows fluid to flow back to the pump. When the steering wheel is turned left or right, the steering mechanism allows the hydraulic fluid to pass to that side of the rack. That pressure assists the vehicle's steering power by pushing the seal and rack in one direction or the other.
The makers of the Italian Alfa Romeo began getting involved in car racing in 1911, but things didn’t start ramping up for them until they switched to mass-producing small vehicles rather than hand-building luxury models after the end of the second World War. Over the years they’ve competed successfully in many different varieties of motorsport, from Grand Prix motor racing to Formula One, sportscar racing, rallies, and touring car racing, but they're still known for their beautiful cars above all else.
When it comes down to it, modern Alfa Romeos are as reliable as just as cars from any other major manufacturers, but are frequently flashier looking! The MiTo and Giulietta add a bit of Italian charm to the supermini and family hatchback models respectively due to their smart styling and unique interiors. And on top of that, both are available as sporty ‘QV’ models in true Alfa Romeo tradition. Of course, you’ve got the lightweight Alfa Romeo 4C if you’re looking for a Italian sportscar to play around with.
How can you save money (and the environment) while you drive?
As every garage owner will tell you, there are some tried and tested ways to cut down on your petrol costs (and consumption) while you’re out and about in Cranleigh or beyond. One is to shut your windows. If you can hear that wind noise in your car it’s costing you more to drive. This is because the car becomes less aerodynamic and has to work harder to motor along. Removing a roof rack will improve your fuel efficiency for the same reason. Another useful tip is to combine short trips into one; each time you drive after your car has been parked for a while the engine will be cold and need to use a lot more fuel for the first 5 miles or so. If you do one trip from school drop-off to supermarket to office you’ll use far less fuel than if you do all those trips individually.
