charged us 30 quid to align our headlights when we didn't ask him to do that. then failed our car for it's MOT and quoted us £1000 to fix it, when it turned out to be literally just twisted sealbelts slowing their mechanism down. he's either trying to scam, or incompetent

This was one very peculiar customer! Car failed MOT on seatbelts not retracting & both headlights misaligned, We adjusted the lamps during the test £10.50 per lamp but advised that the seatbelts would need to be checked & that they may be jammed up inside the reels & able to be repaired rather than having to have new ones. We were asked to price up the new seatbelts which were around £300 plus vat each & there would be labour to do the work, but stressed to the customer that we would need to check before ordering any parts as they may just be jammed inside & repairable. The customer decided to take the car away & a few days later booked back in for a retest which we did free of charge & the belts had been repaired & were now retracting correctly. So why the complaint??
