"Excellent work carried out and very helpful staff."
"Excellent service at a great price. Will definitely use again in the future."
"Very happy. Good price."
"Reliable, friendly, local garage, i’ve used them several times."
"Dropped my car off at 9am for a full service. The guy at the desk was very helpful and said it would be ready in a few hours and said they’d phone me when it was. I hadn’t received a call by 2pm so I went in and my car was ready. Can’t complain as the guys were busy and a full garage is a sign that they’re popular and know what they’re doing, in my opinion at least."
"Good cleaning of car after work done would be helpful"
"I couldn't fault them, they provided a top notch service and were friendly, helpful and professional. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them"
"Exceptionally happy with the work carried out and the service I received!"
Quick and Easy MOT
"Can't fault this garage, booked in online and then received information regarding drop off. On the day it was quick and had my car back by lunch."
"Happy with service throughout. Stuart put the car through the MOT and rang to tell me the good news and proceeded with the service and let me know when my car was ready to collect. Dropped my car off in the morning before work and was able to get the car just before closing time. Stress free and easy overall. He even priced me up for my advisory points which was helpful"
"Been using this garage for a few years now ,Nothings any trouble."
"I’m a first time customer having moved back to Edinburgh recently and was looking for a reputable garage. Saw loads of recommendations for Steins Garage on the I love Leith Facebook group along with great reviews on BookMyGarage.com and other review sites. Booked my Ibiza in for an free inspection re a steering issue. Dropped car off at 9.20 and received a friendly welcome from Craig. Car repaired and ready for collection within 2hrs for a very reasonable price. First class service from start to finish. Steins garage now has a new regular customer as this will be my garage of choice now I’m back in Edinburgh."
Electric Power Steering, or “EPS” as it is also known, is a mechanism that helps you to steer your car. In most vehicles, the EPS relies on a electric motor to aid in turning the wheels. If you've ever driven a car with no Power Steering at all you will have certainly noticed the difference it makes.
Unlike hydraulic systems, electric power steering (EPS) doesn't use any form of hydraulic pressure to provide steering assistance. The technology is fully electric, with an electric motor providing direct assistance to the wheels. Since there is no power lost generating and transmitting hydraulic power, these systems are typically more efficient than hydraulic power steering.
Depending on the specific EPS system, an electric motor is mounted either to the steering column or directly to the steering rack. Sensors are used to determine how much steering force is required when it is applied so that the driver only has to use a minimum amount of effort to turn the steering wheel. Some systems have discrete settings that vary the amount of steering assist that's provided, and others work on a variable curve.
Driving in Scotland
Motorists in Scotland come up against a range of challenges. The tourism and festival hub of Edinburgh experiences the extremes of urban congestion; but drive out into the Highlands and you may find yourself squaring up against one of the herds of long-horned Highland cattle that roam freely in some areas. BookMyGarage can compare garages the length and breadth of Scotland, whether you’re negotiating Glasgow City Centre or gazing at the expanse of Loch Ness.
