What is a diagnostic check?

Today’s vehicles are manufactured with complex interrelated electronic systems. On-board computers continuously monitor and store information concerning the performance of these systems. If you see a warning light on the dashboard, this is because the computer has sensed a signal from one of the systems or components which has gone outside of its normal operating range. This is when your vehicle needs to be plugged in for a diagnostic check.

Your garage will have the specialist equipment need to communicate with your car's electronics. It will show them details of any faults reported by the car, and help them to understand exactly what the problem is that is causing a warning light to come on. They can then tell you how serious the problem is (or not!), and what they will need to do to fix the problem.

About Daewoo

Daewoo was a South Korean car manufacturer which sold vehicles into the UK market between 1995 and 2003. In 2001 General Motors bought the assets of the failing company and most of the Daewoo models were rebranded as Chevrolets, while the Daewoo company itself was replaced by GM Korea.

Known for producing inexpensive, reliable cars, Daewoos had a great run of success in the late 90s and early 00s and so there are still plenty about on UK roads.

Driving in Liverpool

From its 18th century status as the Empire’s second city to the urban deprivation and economic malaise of the post-war period, Liverpool has had its fair share of highs and lows. This irrepressible city has bounced back with style to become the thriving and charismatic place it is today, reflected by a stint as European Capital of Culture in 2008.
