"Very happy with Merxworx, they managed to fit everything in a fairly short timeframe and the work is exceptional. Friendly and competent team who really know their stuff. Highly recommended!"
"Very impressed with the service at short notice. Reception really on the ball"
"Very happy with service and repairs. I was given the option to consider the repairs before authorising the mechanic to complete them. I was given the price in advance which I accepted. I would thoroughly recommend the garage for the quality of work and the service I received."
"Great service from start to finish"
"Excellent service as always"
"Amazing garage. So glad I have found it after years of being ripped off by Halfords!! Lovely staff so down to earth and friendly. I like that they show you the broken part too if they replace anything."
"Booked my insignia for a service and this was completed at a very competitive price. I asked for a quote for a new tyre and front brake pads and was given a very reasonable quote. I booked in and had the extra work done and was very pleased with the speed, efficiency and price overall. Highly recommended."
"I had previously taken my car into a main dealership and was very unhappy with the outrageous bills I would receive so I gave Mer-Tech a go - first with my MOT and then a service. I was extremely happy with the service I received and I no longer had to sit down after receiving my bill at the end! Highly recommended!"
"Dropped my car off and they called me when I got home to advise that they recommend the pollen filter to be changed and gave me a price, which was very competitive. A few hours later I received a text message to say car was ready for collection. Picked the car up and they explained the paperwork and highlighted any items that needed attention. I would give them the following ratings (won't let me click on stars) value 4, helpfulness 4, quality of work 4, kept informed 5."
"My only issue was the garage failed to stamp my vehicle service book even though it was left on the seat resulting in me having to find time to return to get this rectified. Didn't receive an apology for the inconviene either."
Coolant is a specially-formulated chemical liquid, commonly known as antifreeze, that circulates through a car’s engine. It removes excess heat from a car’s engine by passing it through the car’s radiator. Furthermore, the solution contains inhibitors that protect the metal, plastic and rubber in the cooling system from corrosion. And, as the name antifreeze suggests, it also doesn’t freeze up in bitterly cold conditions, so it plays an important role in a car all year long.
Coolant levels should be checked frequently, at least every 3-6 months. Low coolant can cause overheating, which would have serious implications for other components on the car. Even though coolant can leak and evaporate over time, in many cars it often looks as though the coolant never needs changing because its level seems to stay the same. However, draining and flushing the coolant system, including the radiator, at least once a year is important. Flushing pushes out all the old coolant, debris from corrosion and scale. If left in the engine, it may become clogged up, potentially causing extensive damage.
Before a mechanic drains the cooling system, he might add coolant cleaner to the coolant and then start the engine, depending on what the manufacturer specifies. After the car has run for a while, he would turn it off and drain it. He would then add water to flush it and drain it again, twice, before finally putting in the fresh coolant.
What do you need from your garage?
This might sound like a question with an obvious answer: you need a garage that can service or repair your car quickly and at a good price. But think again and you may realise there are other factors that affect your choice of garage in Hull. If you need to bring your son or daughter with you when you take your car in, are there toys in the waiting room? If you’re dropping the car off between school and work, can you pick up a cup of coffee while you’re there? Might the garage even collect your car and drop it back at your house after the work is done? You can find answers to all these questions on BookMyGarage.
