"Car picked up on time mot and service done delivered back to me no problems"
"I was extremely happy with the service I received. I booked online, full outline of costs, received a follow up phone call, free courtesy car. As a female I do sometimes feel garages takr advantage and DP autos were really lovely, they called me and discussed the issues with my car, explained that certain bits were not urgent and did not push any sale on me. Upon picking up the car the mechanic who did the work came and spoke things through with me. I'm really happy with the value for money and service and will definietly be going back. Highly recommend."
This waterfront city in Hampshire is the most densely populated city in the UK. This means that traffic can build at Portsmouth’s rush hour, but that it’s also packed with things to do and see for all ages.
Tourists are drawn to the area for its proximity to the sea, but Portsmouth’s naval history is also a prominent feature with numerous related attractions, such as The Historic Dockyard, the D-Day Museum, the Royal Naval Museum, and the Royal Marines Museum. A number of iconic ships adorn the dockyard such as the HMS Victory, the HMS Warrior and Henry VIII’s Tudor warship the Mary Rose. For those who can handle heights, there are marvellous views from the observation deck of the Spinnaker Tower, a sweep of glass and steel shaped like a sail, which lays claim to being Britain's tallest tower outside London.
Portsmouth has a prestigious literary history and is the birthplace of many celebrated authors from Sir Arthur Conan Doyle to Michelle Magorian, H.G. Wells to Neil Gaiman and most notably, Charles Dickens. The modest house in Old Commercial Road was his former abode and has been restyled to resemble the original Dickens family home.
For shopping Southsea’s more bohemian streets boast antique and vintage stores and an excellent monthly street market, while a number of large shopping centres offer everything from boutique to High Street. Gunwharf Quays hosts 95 designer outlets, a variety of chain restaurants and a 14-screen cinema, all set in the heart of old Portsmouth. Nearby Loch Fyne fish restaurant and the waterside Abarbistro restaurants are both excellent local eateries.
There is some glorious coastline in Hampshire and West Sussex so it’s worth making the very short drive to the picturesque nearby beaches of West Wittering and Hayling Island, which have both recently won a number of awards for good water quality and high standards. Portsmouth is also the departure point for various ferry routes to the Isle of Wight, Channel Islands, France and Spain.
Portsmouth has excellent road connections; the A3(M) puts London only one and a half hours away and the M27/A27 connects the city with Britain's motorway network.
The M275 is a 2-mile dual three-lane motorway. The principal route for entering and leaving Portsmouth, it presents some scenic views over Portsmouth harbour. It continues as the A3 into Portsmouth, and meets the M27 at its northern terminus.
