About Land Rover

Land Rover is a car brand that specialises in four-wheel-drive vehicles, owned by our very own British multinational car manufacturer Jaguar Land Rover (which is actually owned by India's Tata Motors, and has been since 2008).

The Land Rover name was originally used by the Rover Company for the Land Rover Series, launched back in 1948. It developed into a brand encompassing a range of four-wheel-drive models, including the Defender, Discovery, Freelander, Range Rover, and Range Rover Sport. Land Rovers are currently assembled in the company's Halewood and Solihull plants, while R&D takes place at the Gaydon and Whitley engineering centres.

About the Range Rover Sport

First introduced in 1970, the Range Rover was the originator of the luxury 4x4; it wasn’t until Mercedes launched the M-Class in the late 1990s that it found a true rival on the roads. While the ‘Classic’ original lasted 26 years, since then the Range Rover has been updated every eight or ten years. The Range Rover Sport constitutes one of those updated versions, and it’s as luxurious as you’d expect a big car wearing the Range Rover badge to be.

The sporty interior is beautifully finished with loads of space for five and a handy seven-seat option should you need it. Land Rover has also worked hard on what has been a problem for the brand in the past - reliability. Driver Power results suggest the latest Sport is much more dependable than earlier models, with improved economy and emissions making running costs a little less extreme as well.

Problems with Land Rover

A number of cars that were built in the second half of 2006 had to be recalled due to fuel leaks. Fuel could leak from a bearing on the fuel pump which could cause a fire if left unrepaired. Cars were recalled and had new parts fitted. Land Rover also recalled automatic Discoveries built in 2005 due a faulty part in the transmission that meant that the Park setting didn’t engage properly. Affected cars will definitely need the part replaced. And nearly 600 petrol Discoveries built between 2004 and 2005 were recalled. Petrol could leak from the fuel tank on affected cars causing the car to stall while underway.

If you’re having these sorts of problems or any other troubles with your Land Rover, we’re here to help you find the garage in your area that can get you sorted and back on the road (or off-road!) as soon as possible.
