Quick and helpful service
"Very helpful and quick reliable service"
Good alround service
"Very professional staff it all felt very friendly and treated with respect"
"I organised with the garage to leave a key and the car before work and for them to let me know if any thing needed doing and I would pick it up after work. They rang me half an hour before I finished work to let me know that it had passed and I could pick it up. So all in all very good service. Will definitely use them in the future."
Now my regular garage 5*
"Easy to book online, the booking was confirmed, car collected as promised. Work carried out, extra work was confirmed at a reasonable rate and car returned. Nice friendly guys that you can trust."

Hassle free service
"Very pleased with the work carried out and the level of customer service I received from Jamie was top notch! Thanks again"
"Fantastic service, i was booked in for my first MOT & Service (so no idea what I’m doing or what to expect) they came & collected my car early morning as I had to go into work, so they moved their plans around me. Kept me updated through calls & texts. Really well priced for the bits I had to have done to get my car to pass the MOT. Really friendly man that came & collected my car & dropped it back off, made me aware of what’s been done, gave me all my paperwork. Just a really nice experience. More garages should do the collect & drop off, it makes life SO much easier."
"Very happy customer"
"The garage collected and dropped off my car and called to let me know when they would arrive. Payment taken easily on the phone - absolutely nothing to complaint about. Will use again."
"All excellent. Friendly and helpful staff, did excellent job."
"Booked through their online booking system Sunday evening for Monday morning investigation. Received early Monday morning call stating they had received my online booking and expected my car into their workshop am Monday. Car delivered on recovery vehicle mid-morning. Investigation and repair completed by 2.30pm. Excellent service and many thanks."
The brakes on your car utilise fluid pressure.
When the brake pedal is depressed, it activates a plunger in the master cylinder,
which pressurises the brake fluid in the pipes and hoses causing the brake components to move.
Brake repairs are one of the most common reasons to visit a garage; all cars need their brake discs and pads replaced at regular intervals. Some of the warning signs for brake failure are squealing or grinding noises when depressing the brakes, or the brake feeling 'spongy' when the pedals is pressed. And of course if you need to brake increasingly hard to effectively slow or stop your car, then you could well be looking at brake replacement.
There are two main types of brake systems: disc brakes and drum brakes.
Disc brake systems are comprised of two pads per wheel, which clamp down on the brake disc when the brake pedal is depressed. When the fluid becomes pressurised, it sends a plunger in the calliper forward, forcing the brake pads on either side of the brake disc to squeeze it, which results in the slowing and stopping of the car.
Drum brakes operate in the same way as disc brakes, but with a different design. They both use friction to slow and stop the car, but drum brakes use shoes, instead of pads. The shoes are inside the steel brake drum itself, which spins with the wheel. When brake pressure is applied, a component called the wheel cylinder expands, forcing the brake shoes apart and towards the inside edge of the drum. Drum brakes are usually found on older vehicles, or just on the rear brake system.
What do you need from your garage?
This might sound like a question with an obvious answer: you need a garage that can service or repair your car quickly and at a good price. But think again and you may realise there are other factors that affect your choice of garage in Skipton. If you need to bring your son or daughter with you when you take your car in, are there toys in the waiting room? If you’re dropping the car off between school and work, can you pick up a cup of coffee while you’re there? Might the garage even collect your car and drop it back at your house after the work is done? You can find answers to all these questions on BookMyGarage.
