Just what I wanted
"Good value for money and quick speedy service."
Goes above and beyond
"Friendly, local garage, able to fit my car in at my convenience. Kept me fully informed about work needed before carrying out the same. Used the garage a few times, had a couple of little niggles and they had a quick look and fixed the problem free of charge (ie a misaligned wiper and a squeaky door). Always try to ‘shop local’ rather than use big companies where I’m able, and in relation to my car, I’m more than able with Prudhoe Auto Care"
"Great service. Professional friendly & great value."
"Friendly helpful, reasonably priced and transparent about any work they needed to do"
"I am very happy with service. Staff very kind and helpful. I use the service in the future. I great recomend."

"From start to finish all round good service"
"Great Service, picked up my car from my workplace and the dropped it off again after MOT had been carried out. Kept me updated with service. Would recommend."
The brakes on your car utilise fluid pressure.
When the brake pedal is depressed, it activates a plunger in the master cylinder,
which pressurises the brake fluid in the pipes and hoses causing the brake components to move.
Brake repairs are one of the most common reasons to visit a garage; all cars need their brake discs and pads replaced at regular intervals. Some of the warning signs for brake failure are squealing or grinding noises when depressing the brakes, or the brake feeling 'spongy' when the pedals is pressed. And of course if you need to brake increasingly hard to effectively slow or stop your car, then you could well be looking at brake replacement.
There are two main types of brake systems: disc brakes and drum brakes.
Disc brake systems are comprised of two pads per wheel, which clamp down on the brake disc when the brake pedal is depressed. When the fluid becomes pressurised, it sends a plunger in the calliper forward, forcing the brake pads on either side of the brake disc to squeeze it, which results in the slowing and stopping of the car.
Drum brakes operate in the same way as disc brakes, but with a different design. They both use friction to slow and stop the car, but drum brakes use shoes, instead of pads. The shoes are inside the steel brake drum itself, which spins with the wheel. When brake pressure is applied, a component called the wheel cylinder expands, forcing the brake shoes apart and towards the inside edge of the drum. Drum brakes are usually found on older vehicles, or just on the rear brake system.
A French dealer renowned for the sporty qualities of its small cars, Peugeot is as popular now as it was nearly a hundred years ago. A part of PSA Peugeot Citroen, the family business that preceded the current company was founded back in 1810, although in those days they manufactured bicycles and coffee mills!
While still known for its small, sporty and economical models, Peugeot now make a wide variety of differently shaped and sized cars. You’ll also notice that Peugeot have defiantly skipped the long-standing trend of naming their cars, instead choosing to use numbers and letters (3008, 5008, and RCZ, for example).
Today the range includes three sporty vehicles - the 208 and 308 GTi, which are hatchbacks, and the RCZ coupe, among others. The range spans ultra compact cars to spacious SUVs, and family friendly vehicles to more flashier options, like the aforementioned RCZ.
What do you need from your garage?
We all have different needs, and choosing a garage is no different. For some of us, it’s the quality of the overall service which matters most; not just the work that’s done under the bonnet, but the human interaction that comes with it. BookMyGarage allows you to compare Plymouth garages on everything from their waiting room refreshments or whether having your toddler in tow is going to be a problem, to how clearly the staff can explain the work your car requires.
