"Dropped my car off and they called me when I got home to advise that they recommend the pollen filter to be changed and gave me a price, which was very competitive. A few hours later I received a text message to say car was ready for collection. Picked the car up and they explained the paperwork and highlighted any items that needed attention. I would give them the following ratings (won't let me click on stars) value 4, helpfulness 4, quality of work 4, kept informed 5."
"My only issue was the garage failed to stamp my vehicle service book even though it was left on the seat resulting in me having to find time to return to get this rectified. Didn't receive an apology for the inconviene either."

Great Garage and Service
"John and his team were great. Got my car MOT'd and the service was excellent. Very informative with the work that needed doing and at a good price for parts and labour. Really recommend."
"Great service and Tracy kept me updated about the work being done. many thanks"
"Arranged using Book My Garage and received confirmation on the phone from Mertech regarding time etc. Was expected on arrival and courtesy car handed over. All completed in 5 minutes. Later received phone call informing of some minor items outside of the service that needed attention and whether I wanted to proceed. Informed I did on some, but no to others. Price agreed on phone and work duly completed prior to me collecting vehicle. Mechanic and supervisor checked vehicle with me advising on items that required attention in the near future. Given full print out of work carried out and B service maintenance schedule and Mercedes service history updated. Paid with card and drove away. Absolutely hassle-free. Thank you John and team. See you next year."
Could't be better
"What a smashing place this is. Price quoted was a huge plus anyway but the speed they did the job, the efficiency, the care taken, the checks and advice given and the friendly service all made it a pleasure of a company to deal with. Highly recommended."
"Wonderful service and very informative staff. Thank you"
A good experience
"Convenient time arranged work completed to a good standard and good value for money , car ready for collection when said it would be . Curtesy car was a bit of a disappointment due to its age and interior condition ."
The brakes on your car utilise fluid pressure.
When the brake pedal is depressed, it activates a plunger in the master cylinder,
which pressurises the brake fluid in the pipes and hoses causing the brake components to move.
Brake repairs are one of the most common reasons to visit a garage; all cars need their brake discs and pads replaced at regular intervals. Some of the warning signs for brake failure are squealing or grinding noises when depressing the brakes, or the brake feeling 'spongy' when the pedals is pressed. And of course if you need to brake increasingly hard to effectively slow or stop your car, then you could well be looking at brake replacement.
There are two main types of brake systems: disc brakes and drum brakes.
Disc brake systems are comprised of two pads per wheel, which clamp down on the brake disc when the brake pedal is depressed. When the fluid becomes pressurised, it sends a plunger in the calliper forward, forcing the brake pads on either side of the brake disc to squeeze it, which results in the slowing and stopping of the car.
Drum brakes operate in the same way as disc brakes, but with a different design. They both use friction to slow and stop the car, but drum brakes use shoes, instead of pads. The shoes are inside the steel brake drum itself, which spins with the wheel. When brake pressure is applied, a component called the wheel cylinder expands, forcing the brake shoes apart and towards the inside edge of the drum. Drum brakes are usually found on older vehicles, or just on the rear brake system.
What do you need from your garage?
This might sound like a question with an obvious answer: you need a garage that can service or repair your car quickly and at a good price. But think again and you may realise there are other factors that affect your choice of garage in Hull. If you need to bring your son or daughter with you when you take your car in, are there toys in the waiting room? If you’re dropping the car off between school and work, can you pick up a cup of coffee while you’re there? Might the garage even collect your car and drop it back at your house after the work is done? You can find answers to all these questions on BookMyGarage.
