Free Health Check
"Booked in easy. Free Health Check took no more than 30 mins from arriving to leaving. No faults found, so very happy."
"I really wasn't sure if I had picked the right garage being new to the area. The work was booked on line and I received a phone call to check on what I required. I was informed that the garage would contact me before doing any work over and above our agreement. The next question was a surprise, "did I want my car collected and returned?" It was a surprise. The job was done in good time and the car returned. I also had tyres fitted the following day and the car was collected and returned. I thought my local garage in London was at the top of the game but HMG have exceeded all my expectations with a decent price, and came up with a great service that would be difficult to beat, in my opinion. They have certainly got my future work."
Good interim service
"USed book my garage for the first time and used the reviews given to choose a garage. The price was competitive and the majority of the reviews were positive. Easy to book and I had the option of a free courtesy car, collection and delivery or a lift which was good. On taking the car into the garage, the staff there were a little lethargic, but told me what I needed. They took as long as they had estimated and then contacted me to say that the work was finished. The guy behind the counter when I collected it was extremely helpful and very friendly. Very happy with the work and with the price."
"Moved my time to suit me, helpful advice and did the work in the time they said."
The brakes on your car utilise fluid pressure.
When the brake pedal is depressed, it activates a plunger in the master cylinder,
which pressurises the brake fluid in the pipes and hoses causing the brake components to move.
Brake repairs are one of the most common reasons to visit a garage; all cars need their brake discs and pads replaced at regular intervals. Some of the warning signs for brake failure are squealing or grinding noises when depressing the brakes, or the brake feeling 'spongy' when the pedals is pressed. And of course if you need to brake increasingly hard to effectively slow or stop your car, then you could well be looking at brake replacement.
There are two main types of brake systems: disc brakes and drum brakes.
Disc brake systems are comprised of two pads per wheel, which clamp down on the brake disc when the brake pedal is depressed. When the fluid becomes pressurised, it sends a plunger in the calliper forward, forcing the brake pads on either side of the brake disc to squeeze it, which results in the slowing and stopping of the car.
Drum brakes operate in the same way as disc brakes, but with a different design. They both use friction to slow and stop the car, but drum brakes use shoes, instead of pads. The shoes are inside the steel brake drum itself, which spins with the wheel. When brake pressure is applied, a component called the wheel cylinder expands, forcing the brake shoes apart and towards the inside edge of the drum. Drum brakes are usually found on older vehicles, or just on the rear brake system.
Boasting a lineup that includes one of the best-selling cars in the UK (the Qashqai), Nissan is a company known for being experimental. The Qashqai is noted as being one of the first true crossover SUVs. Alongside it, Nissan also offers the battery-powered Leaf, among lots of other cheap and cheerful options, such as the ever popular Micra, and the Note.
Since 1999, Nissan has been part of the Renault–Nissan Alliance, a partnership between Nissan and French automaker Renault. As of 2013, Renault holds a 43.4% voting stake in Nissan, while Nissan holds a 15% non-voting stake in Renault. Carlos Ghosn serves as CEO of both companies.
Selling cars under the Nissan, Infiniti, and Datsun brands, Nissan was the sixth largest automaker in the world behind Toyota, GM, Volkswagen Group, Hyundai, and Ford in recent years; however they are the leading Japanese brand in China, Russia, and Mexico.
