"I brought my car here after a different garage carried out an MOT and quoted me £650 for repairs. I booked a second MOT as well as an interim service ,the staff at the garage were very helpful and said they would give me a call back with a quote. Within 2hrs they called with a quote of just £60 for repairs as the first garage had tried to massively overcharge me. After another 2hrs it was ready to collect and they had even cleaned the car! I couldn't fault the garage at all and would definitely recommend them!"
"Good customer service and value for money"
Pretty good service
"Friendly staff and didn't treat me like an idiot when i turned up a week early for my MOT, great value for money and was pleasantly surprised by a freshly washed car at the end. Friendly swift service and will definitely use again."
"I paid for a major service on my car. I utilised the free pick up and drop off service from my house offered by G C Auto Limited because I had a busy work schedule. For the pick up, they arrived on time. During the day, they called me to say some work needed doing and talked me through that. When they were finished, they dropped off my car at home and put my key through the letter box because I was still out. I paid over the phone which didn't take long. I think the price of the major service was good value for money compared to other garages."
"Very efficient garage with excellent customer service"
"Will definitely use again in the future"
"easy booking in system and friendly efficient helpful staff"
"First time I’ve used this garage but their collect and drop off service was important to me and worked really well. Can recommend and will definitely use them again."
The brakes on your car utilise fluid pressure.
When the brake pedal is depressed, it activates a plunger in the master cylinder,
which pressurises the brake fluid in the pipes and hoses causing the brake components to move.
Brake repairs are one of the most common reasons to visit a garage; all cars need their brake discs and pads replaced at regular intervals. Some of the warning signs for brake failure are squealing or grinding noises when depressing the brakes, or the brake feeling 'spongy' when the pedals is pressed. And of course if you need to brake increasingly hard to effectively slow or stop your car, then you could well be looking at brake replacement.
There are two main types of brake systems: disc brakes and drum brakes.
Disc brake systems are comprised of two pads per wheel, which clamp down on the brake disc when the brake pedal is depressed. When the fluid becomes pressurised, it sends a plunger in the calliper forward, forcing the brake pads on either side of the brake disc to squeeze it, which results in the slowing and stopping of the car.
Drum brakes operate in the same way as disc brakes, but with a different design. They both use friction to slow and stop the car, but drum brakes use shoes, instead of pads. The shoes are inside the steel brake drum itself, which spins with the wheel. When brake pressure is applied, a component called the wheel cylinder expands, forcing the brake shoes apart and towards the inside edge of the drum. Drum brakes are usually found on older vehicles, or just on the rear brake system.
What do you need from your garage?
This might sound like a question with an obvious answer: you need a garage that can service or repair your car quickly and at a good price. But think again and you may realise there are other factors that affect your choice of garage in Gateshead. If you need to bring your son or daughter with you when you take your car in, are there toys in the waiting room? If you’re dropping the car off between school and work, can you pick up a cup of coffee while you’re there? Might the garage even collect your car and drop it back at your house after the work is done? You can find answers to all these questions on BookMyGarage.
