"Easy to book, and great customer service"
"This garage is a fantastic, honest and genuine garage run by guys who really know what they are doing and no BS. Highly recommended."
"Efficient service, car was serviced and had several parts replaced, which was all done in a day. I was kept informed of what repairs were needed during the day. For all the work that was done, it was well priced. Friendly and helpful staff too."
"Staff were helpful and friendly, kept me updated on how long it will take."
Did the job
"Good service, nice staff, no complaints."
"Great friendly service at affordable prices. Have previously had an LED front lamp replaced and tyres replaced. Kept informed throughout the day of any additional costs."
"Happy with it all, not the cheapest but I have never had any issues and I have been going to Whiteley tyreshops since it opened."
"Couldn't fault the service but was given some recommendations which needed doing. I was given a quote which seemed quite high so went to 2 other garages. I took my car into both and they both said that the work didnt need to be done! Very disappointing."
"Happy with service"
"After they've told me that there's no elevetor free, ask me to wait inside and, while my car was still in the garage door, a guy start pouting some "coolant" into my radiator and more on the floor...pretending that they are replacing my coolant. They never drain my coolant...just pour some extra coolant through the engine compartment in the ideea that I believe that the liquid on the pavement is in fact my old coolant."
Will use again
"Competitively priced quote and didn’t increase the price when it came to collecting the car"
The brakes on your car utilise fluid pressure.
When the brake pedal is depressed, it activates a plunger in the master cylinder,
which pressurises the brake fluid in the pipes and hoses causing the brake components to move.
Brake repairs are one of the most common reasons to visit a garage; all cars need their brake discs and pads replaced at regular intervals. Some of the warning signs for brake failure are squealing or grinding noises when depressing the brakes, or the brake feeling 'spongy' when the pedals is pressed. And of course if you need to brake increasingly hard to effectively slow or stop your car, then you could well be looking at brake replacement.
There are two main types of brake systems: disc brakes and drum brakes.
Disc brake systems are comprised of two pads per wheel, which clamp down on the brake disc when the brake pedal is depressed. When the fluid becomes pressurised, it sends a plunger in the calliper forward, forcing the brake pads on either side of the brake disc to squeeze it, which results in the slowing and stopping of the car.
Drum brakes operate in the same way as disc brakes, but with a different design. They both use friction to slow and stop the car, but drum brakes use shoes, instead of pads. The shoes are inside the steel brake drum itself, which spins with the wheel. When brake pressure is applied, a component called the wheel cylinder expands, forcing the brake shoes apart and towards the inside edge of the drum. Drum brakes are usually found on older vehicles, or just on the rear brake system.
