"I am not a car mechanic so I have to rely on these guys implicitly and they gave me the confidence to do just that. Great customer service. Wholly recommended."
"Yes very happy"
"From online booking to actually collecting the vehicle after the work was carried out, everything was very good and efficient. With the exception of a call back to let me know when I could collect my car, I didn't recieve"
"Always receive fantastic and reliable service from the staff at F T Auotcentre. Following the full service undertaken, my car is running more smoothly and was more than happy to take their expert advice and get the cam belt replaced. Always come away feeling reassured and fully satisfied with the quality of workmanship received."
"Mot'd and repaired. Done in a timely manner. Car feels better for it. No complaints"
MOT and Service
"Would recommend this garage 100%."
"Cheap and easy to use this service"
"First time using this garage, it had lots of good reviews and the prices were decent so thought I'd give it a try. I am very happy with the work I had done, I took my own ad- blue that they filled for me, it didnt take any longer than expected and the complimentary wash is a nice touch. One thing that did get me thinking was that my car takes 0w30 oil but on my service report they stated they re filled it with 5w30 so gave them a call and was re assured that 0w30 oil was added but the mechanic had wrote the wrong oil down."
"Brilliant plain english service"
Another great MOT
"Cannot fault the service received from the team, always get the work done quickly and willing to explain what needs doing with a smile."
"Took my sons car in which had developed a power steering fault after an accident. The staff were very helpful especially when it was found that a new pump was needed and they took the time to help me find the correct part on ebay so that I didn't have to pay a fortune for one and once it arrived they fitted it extremely quickly for a very reasonable price. Great service and value for money, would definitely use them again."
"Car was collected and returned at our convenience and can't fault the price!!"
The brakes on your car utilise fluid pressure.
When the brake pedal is depressed, it activates a plunger in the master cylinder,
which pressurises the brake fluid in the pipes and hoses causing the brake components to move.
Brake repairs are one of the most common reasons to visit a garage; all cars need their brake discs and pads replaced at regular intervals. Some of the warning signs for brake failure are squealing or grinding noises when depressing the brakes, or the brake feeling 'spongy' when the pedals is pressed. And of course if you need to brake increasingly hard to effectively slow or stop your car, then you could well be looking at brake replacement.
There are two main types of brake systems: disc brakes and drum brakes.
Disc brake systems are comprised of two pads per wheel, which clamp down on the brake disc when the brake pedal is depressed. When the fluid becomes pressurised, it sends a plunger in the calliper forward, forcing the brake pads on either side of the brake disc to squeeze it, which results in the slowing and stopping of the car.
Drum brakes operate in the same way as disc brakes, but with a different design. They both use friction to slow and stop the car, but drum brakes use shoes, instead of pads. The shoes are inside the steel brake drum itself, which spins with the wheel. When brake pressure is applied, a component called the wheel cylinder expands, forcing the brake shoes apart and towards the inside edge of the drum. Drum brakes are usually found on older vehicles, or just on the rear brake system.
What do you need from your garage?
This might sound like a question with an obvious answer: you need a garage that can service or repair your car quickly and at a good price. But think again and you may realise there are other factors that affect your choice of garage in Boston. If you need to bring your son or daughter with you when you take your car in, are there toys in the waiting room? If you’re dropping the car off between school and work, can you pick up a cup of coffee while you’re there? Might the garage even collect your car and drop it back at your house after the work is done? You can find answers to all these questions on BookMyGarage.
