Room for improvement
"I had the oil changed and a visual look over my car, when I collected it my service light hadn't been turned off, which I thought should have been. I was told that there was some fault code on my car which apparently stops them erasing my service light. Before fetching my car I received a phone call advising me of a few things that needed doing but this fault code wasn't mentioned then. It sounded to me at the time that they couldn't be bothered to explain this fault code and I wasn't very happy at all."
"Communication was first class from the moment service was booked right up to after the job was done, my car was picked up and returned even though I lived 30 miles away from the garage. I was kept informed through the process and was also sent a video of the work being carried out. Will definitely use again and wouldn't hesitate to reccomend."
The brakes on your car use fluid pressure. When you press the brake pedal, it activates a plunger in the master cylinder; this pressurises the brake fluid in the pipes and hoses, which makes the brake components move.
Even though brake fluid sits in a sealed system it can still absorb moisture over time, and that can lead to corrosion. Moisture also lowers the boiling temperature of brake fluid which can reduce braking effectiveness, especially if your vehicle makes repeated hard stops. Check your car's owner manual to see when the manufacturer recommends replacing the brake fluid.
Or you can use BookMyGarage to find a garage near you to check the state of your brake fluid - it's a simple test and they will have the right tools to do it for you.
Jaguar Land Rover, a British multinational car manufacturer headquartered in Whitley, Coventry, England, was founded as the Swallow Sidecar Company in 1922, originally making motorcycle sidecars before developing bodies for passenger cars. Under the ownership of S.S. Cars Limited the business eventually extended to making complete cars, and the name S.S. Cars was changed to "Jaguar" in 1945.
In recent years, Jaguar has manufactured cars for the British Prime Minister, and the company also holds royal warrants from Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Charles. Jaguar cars today are designed in engineering centres at the Whitley plant in Coventry and at their Gaydon site in Warwickshire, and are manufactured in Jaguar's Castle Bromwich assembly plant in Birmingham with some manufacturing also happening in the Solihull plant.
How can you save money (and the environment) while you drive?
As every garage owner will tell you, there are some tried and tested ways to cut down on your petrol costs (and consumption) while you’re out and about in Scunthorpe or beyond. One is to shut your windows. If you can hear that wind noise in your car it’s costing you more to drive. This is because the car becomes less aerodynamic and has to work harder to motor along. Removing a roof rack will improve your fuel efficiency for the same reason. Another useful tip is to combine short trips into one; each time you drive after your car has been parked for a while the engine will be cold and need to use a lot more fuel for the first 5 miles or so. If you do one trip from school drop-off to supermarket to office you’ll use far less fuel than if you do all those trips individually.
