Car brakes on your car use fluid pressure to work. When a car’s brake pedal is pushed, a plunger in the brake’s master cylinder pressurises the brake fluid that resides in the hoses and pipes to make the other components of the braking system move.
This varies from car to car, but most manufacturers suggest booking a brake fluid replacement at least every couple of years. Although the fluid is in a sealed system, moisture can still find its way in. It corrodes components over time and decreases the temperature at which the fluid is supposed to boil.
Furthermore, as the internal components of the braking system wear out, debris contaminates the fluid, jamming everything up. All of this impacts on how well the brakes function, particularly in constant stop-start traffic with heavy braking and can lead to expensive brake repairs.
Ashton-Under-Lyne is a market town in Tameside, Greater Manchester on the north bank of the River Tame and in the foothills of the Pennines.
The Industrial Revolution brought cotton spinning, weaving and coal mining into the Ashton-Under-Lyne area. The era also saw the construction of three canals: the Manchester and Ashton canal, the Huddersfield Narrow Canal and the Peak Forest Canal. The Portland Basin Museum in Ashton offers a fascinating insight into the history of industrial Tameside.
The town still hosts one of the oldest and largest markets in the region with a traditional farmer's market on the last Sunday of every month. There are a number of high street shops in the centre but head to Ashton's Old Town for some good independent shops.
