"Took the wife's car for an MOT at Corys and I have to say the customer service was superb. I dropped the car off in the morning for its service, and as part of their customer care they drove me back butit's then failed it's Mot and needed new tyres which they ordered immediately after contacting me and kept me informed what was going on. Pricing was very fair and the biggest thanks must go to Hazel the lady on reception who was jovial, engaging and a credit to the business. Thanks"
"Fully happy with the service received whilst my car was in for an mot"
"Sandhurst MOT have a fantastic reputation in the community and while this was a fairly straightforward piece of work - MOT test - they met my expectations fully"
"Had to wait a while but overall ok"
"Would recommend Speedy Spanners to anyone - their collect & deliver service takes the hard work out of having work done on your car."
"I booked my MOT on line for the next morning so called up to confirm what time. I should take my car in for. I arrived at the time given, I was shown the waiting room and my car was immediately taken in. While the waiting room was basic I had no complaints as I had brought along something to do while I waited. I wasn’t waiting hours, the mechanic said the MOT would take about 49 mins, and then I was on my way. Everything appeared to happen very smoothly."
A car's battery, which is rechargeable, is one of those components that must be fully-functional for a car to start. This is because its main purpose is to feed electricity to the starter, which starts the engine. Once the engine is running, power for the car's electrical systems is supplied by the alternator, which takes around 20 minutes to fully recharge a car battery.
A British icon since the swinging 1960s, the Mini is a small economy car that was made by the British Motor Corporation from 1959 until 2000 and is now under the umbrella of BMW. The transverse engine front-wheel drive layout influenced a generation of car makers, and allowed 80 percent of the car’s floorpan to be used for passengers and luggage - that’s a lot of space!
In 1999 the Mini was voted the second most influential car of the 20th century, behind the Ford Model T, and ahead of the Citroën DS and Volkswagen Beetle. The performance versions, the Mini Cooper and Cooper "S," were successful as rally cars, winning the Monte Carlo Rally in 1964, 1965 and 1967. The British manufacturer now offers a selection of nine cars across a broad spectrum of vehicle choices, from the traditional three door hatchback to the more radical Coupe, Countryman and Paceman. It also developed a range of frugal engines, both petrol and diesel, to reduce running costs.
How can you save money (and the environment) while you drive?
As every garage owner will tell you, there are some tried and tested ways to cut down on your petrol costs (and consumption) while you’re out and about in Par or beyond. One is to shut your windows. If you can hear that wind noise in your car it’s costing you more to drive. This is because the car becomes less aerodynamic and has to work harder to motor along. Removing a roof rack will improve your fuel efficiency for the same reason. Another useful tip is to combine short trips into one; each time you drive after your car has been parked for a while the engine will be cold and need to use a lot more fuel for the first 5 miles or so. If you do one trip from school drop-off to supermarket to office you’ll use far less fuel than if you do all those trips individually.
